About Us
The Mace Group of Companies is a diverse organisation ranging from precision engineering, engine reconditioning, manufacturing to the distribution of pumps, manufacturing of composting equipment and development of a revolutionary Pivotal Engine.
At the heart of the group is a passion for quality and commitment to innovation which began, over fifty years ago, with founder Bill Mace.
In 1952 he established the core of the group, when he bought Toomey’s Grinding & Gear Ltd – a company he had previously managed, and renamed it Mace Engineering Ltd.
A man of imagination and ability, he charted a course based on attention to detail and ingenuity – a course faithfully followed today.
Ted Mace now walks in his father’s footsteps.
He heads a privately owned, dynamic, expanding, modern group of companies which embrace new technologies and attract talented, dedicated staff that continue to advance the standards of excellence in their individual fields.
Over the years, the Mace group has expanded to encompass a range of complimentary disciplines. These include: general engineering and design, the design, manufacture and repair of defence components; tyre equipment manufacture; gantry crane manufacturing; motor reconditioning; the assembly distribution, custom-building and testing of leading-brand pumps.
In 1952 Mace Engine Reconditioners was one of the first established engine reconditioning shops in Canterbury to cater for the ever-increasing demand for engine repairs. With on going investment in machinery and the acquisition of Smith Regrinds in 2002, another long established and respected competitor in the industry, resulting in Mace Engine Recondition having one of the most up to date workshops in the country. We take great pride in the ability to adapt to suit a competitive market that is constantly changing.
